Finding out what you’re allergic to through skin allergy testing is the first step to treatment.  A skin prick test uses diluted amounts of common or suspected allergens and introduces your skin (on the arm or back) to the substance. A positive reaction will usually take up to 20 minutes. If you are allergic, you will develop a raised bump, or a wheal, at the test location on your skin.  Once testing is completed, we apply topical Benadryl gel to alleviate these symptoms which usually completely resolve within 2 to 4 hours.

While the skin prick test sounds scary this test is relatively painless and no blood is drawn. Allergy skin testing is considered very accurate.
