Peripheral Neuropathy Treatment

Neuropathy

What Is Peripheral Neuropathy?

The peripheral nervous system is the nervous system outside of the brain and spinal cord. “Neuropathy” is a disease or dysfunction of one or more of these nerves.  Peripheral Neuropathy occurs when these nerves are damaged, sick, or dying.

More than 20 million in the US suffer from peripheral neuropathy. The majority are over the age of 45. That’s almost 1 out of 17 Americans have peripheral neuropathy. Many suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy have lost the ability to enjoy  activities they love such as traveling, sports, social events, and spending time with family as a result of the pain, burning, numbness, tingling, difficulty walking, and other symptoms associated with Peripheral Neuropathy.

Common Symptoms Of Neuropathy

Below are some of the most common symptoms experienced by people suffering from neuropathy located in their arms, hands, legs and feet.

  • Burning pain radiating in the hands or feet
  • Pins and needles in the extremities
  • Numbness and tingling
  • Weakness in arms and legs
  • A knotted feeling in the soles and palms
  • Pain from the lightest touches
  • Difficulty walking
  • Pain from the pressure of walking
  • Balance problems and falling
  • Inability to grasp with the hands
  • Cramping in the feet
  • Fingers twisting and locking
  • Pain when twisting the wrists
  • Hands and feet feeling tired or heavy
  • Night pain and sleep difficulty
  • Restless legs and feet
  • Pain that seems to come even from the sheets or covers on your feet at night

Pain from Neuropathy tends to be worse at night. This makes it difficult to get a full night’s sleep which can lead to other health problems.

Causes Of Neuropathy

Metabolic – Risk Factors

  • Diabetes is the most common cause of Neuropathy accounting for approximately a third of cases.
  • B1, B6, B12, E, or Niacin deficiencies

Chemical – Risk Factors

  • Chemotherapy
  • Alcoholism
  • Drugs / Prescription Medication
  • War Toxins / Industrial Toxins

Mechanical – Risk Factors

  • Bulged and Herniated Disc(s)
  • Degenerative Disc(s)
  • Spinal Stenosis

These causes are also very common, and are most often a result from mechanical joint problems, which compress the nerves where they exit the spine.

Autoimmune – Risk Factors

  • Lupis
  • Rhematoid Arthritis
  • Sjogrens Disease

Hereditary – Risk Factors

  • Neurological diseases such as Friedriech’s Ataxia and Charcot Marie Tooth Disease.

Idiopathic

  • Neuropathy can also be idiopathic, meaning from an unknown cause.

Treatment

Today’s advanced treatments for peripheral neuropathy focus on healing the problem at its source—not simply masking symptoms with medications that often come with unwanted side effects. From your very first visit, our focus is to identify the cause of your neuropathic pain and treat it directly using a personalized combination of non-invasive, drug-free therapies. These proven, safe technologies work at a cellular level to improve circulation, support nerve repair, and restore healthy tissue function. Rather than short-term relief, the goal is lasting improvement, with many patients experiencing reduced pain, improved sensation, and a return to comfort they haven’t felt in years. Because peripheral neuropathy does not resolve on its own and medications cannot repair damaged nerves, early treatment is encouraged—sooner care often leads to stronger, longer-lasting results.
